Free Speech Centre is an independent nonprofit organization committed to defending press freedom, protecting journalists' rights, and advocating for free expression. We work to uphold the fundamental right to free expression and to strengthen independent media through advocacy, documentation of threats against journalists, professional guidance, and legal support.

Monitoring committee
The Monitoring Committee systematically observes and analyzes the Afghan media landscape, compiling reports every three months to provide a comprehensive overview of press freedom. These reports document challenges faced by journalists, aiming to raise awareness and advocate for the preservation of press freedom.

The Women Affairs Committee advocates for the rights and safety of women journalists, particularly those facing repression and gender-based threats. It provides legal support, professional guidance, and documents violations against women in media. The Committee ensures that women’s voices and gender perspectives remain central to the fight for press freedom and free expression.

Events
Each year, the Free Speech Centre (FSC) hosts its national conference on May 3rd, marking World Press Freedom Day. The event brings together journalists, media leaders, representatives of international organizations, university students, and human rights activists to engage in dialogue, share insights, and strengthen solidarity.
